Above an enormous industrial city, the sky has physically torn open like a colossal piece of heavy fabric. A team of tiny construction workers suspended from cranes and scaffolding are carefully sewing the two sides together using gigantic steel needles and thick cables. On one side of the seam there is a violent black thunderstorm, dense clouds and lightning; on the other side, a brilliant Mediterranean afternoon with clear blue sky and golden sunlight. The boundary is an actual stitched seam stretching across the heavens, with convincing folds, tension and fabric-like thickness, yet both halves remain recognizably real atmospheric skies. The city continues normally below, unaware of the impossible repair. Monumental scale, surreal cinematic realism, dramatic chiaroscuro, powerful composition, physically tangible impossibility, sophisticated fine-art photography.
